The Power's Out

The day started with a usual morning, way before the sunrise I woke up and shuffled into the bathroom to perform the normal duties. After finishing, and feeling a bit more refreshed, I found my way into the kitchen, the lights still didn't work, the electrical engineer for the building must still be "busy." I opened the fridge only to find an empty cave staring back at me. I decided I'd just pick up food on the way to my job at Walter's Lanes.

Down three floors and across the street to the grocery store I went (while crossing the street I notice a new smell that I don't recognize) to buy some energy bars for breakfast, and a sandwich for lunch, I hate the stuff they serve at the alley. A larger crowd at the lanes today than usual, I guess people just want to get out of the heat. Around lunchtime, I see a bunch of teens heading out of Ray's from across the street towards Walter's; I ask to take my lunch break just in time to avoid dealing with them.

The rest of the day was uneventful at the bowling lanes. At four I left for home but took a detour to visit my grandma at St. Magdeline's. While in the cemetery, I heard some crashing noises coming from the abandoned building next to the basketball courts. No one else was around so I decided to ignore the sound. I headed home but then I remembered I had no food. I went back down the flight of stairs I had just climbed and ate at the Sunset Grill next door, the attractive waitress was working her shift again. I wonder when I'll get up the guts to ask her to a movie or something. maybe next week.

After finshing my meal and paying my check I went home, ready to sleep. When I got to my room, I couldn't find my keys. I must have left them somewhere on my way between work and the apartment. It was too late to go look for them now, I knocked on my friends door across from mine, #410, and asked him if I could spend the night after explaining my situation. He said sure and I entered the room, he set up the couch for me and I fell asleep almost immediately.
